The Tea Lady is the personification of domestic ritual and servitude contemplating the woman’s function and referencing her emotional complexity in bright, audacious, voluptuous form. Each lady begins life on the wheel, the clay yielding through the distortion and assemblage process, to take on an individuality that may be contemptuous, flirtatious or frivolous but always functional.
